Water pipe break closes Northside Drive McDonald's
Workers at the McDonald's on Northside Drive got their break today — but not the kind they were expecting.
A kitchen water pipe burst around 5 p.m. causing store manager, Deinne Mathis, to close doors temporarily.
According to Mathis, the pipe burst, flooding the kitchen and drive-through areas.
"I did not want my employees to have to walk through all of that water," she said. "And I did not want to have to walk through it either."
She is not sure what caused the break, saying that she suspects someone may have stepped on it while installing a piece of new equipment.
She is expecting a plumber to arrive, "within the hour," and hopes to have doors re-opened tonight.
Meanwhile, they have duct taped the pipe, mopped up the mess and turned the water off in the restaurant.
