An inmate at the Gwinnett County Comprehensive Correctional Complex tried to sneak a cellphone behind bars using a sardine can, a warrant alleges.

Robert Finney tried to sneak the phone past guards this week. Authorities found the sardine can, along with the phone inside, while searching him during the intake process, according to the warrant, obtained by Channel 2 Action News.

It is unclear if Finney was recently transferred to the prison or if it was an intake search after outside work duty.

Finney is serving a 15-year sentence for robbery by intimidation. The conviction occurred in Macon.
