Two men with an apparent taste for fine liquor -- but also with an apparent lack of cash to pay for it -- were injured when they wrecked their car after leading police on a high-speed chase.

Douglasville police told Channel 2 Action News that the two men, who were not identified,  shoplifted six bottles of Grey Goose vodka -- with an estimated value of $360 -- from the Arbor Place Beverages liquor store  Wednesday afternoon.

A Douglasville police officer spotted the getaway car, a Honda Civic, traveling east on I-20, Channel 2 reported. A tag check revealed the car had been stolen in DeKalb County.

A chase ensued, but Sgt. Todd Garner told Channel 2 that police officers terminated the chase due to the high speed.

The two suspects, undeterred,  continued speeding south on Lee Road, where they lost control of the car, careened through somebody's yard and went airborne before crashing in a parking lot, landing upside-down.

"It looks between 40 and 50 feet they might have went through the air," Garner told Channel 2. "Both suspects got out of the vehicle and tried to run." Since one of the suspects had a broken ankle, he wasn't running very fast, so officers quickly caught up to him. "The other one stopped when officers confronted him," Garner said.

Aside from the broken ankle, the extent of the men's injuries was not known, but both are expected to survive.

Some of the Grey Goose, however, didn't fare as well, as several of the bottles were destroyed in the wreck.  The suspects are facing felony shoplifting charges, along with theft by receiving a stolen motor vehicle and other traffic-related charges, Channel 2 said.
