When the manager of a Lawrenceville Thai restaurant spotted a health inspector Monday, he rushed to the kitchen. He put food in coolers, threw other food away, discarded employees' drinks.

According to the inspection report, he didn't wash his hands first.

The restaurant, Thai Lotus at 4825 Sugarloaf Parkway in Lawrenceville, failed its inspection with a 52/U.

Officials also noted several other alleged violations. "Several ceramic bowls and plates for immediate service were observed with residues and food debris," the report said, and "rice scoops" were not properly cleaned. Rice curries were not properly heated and "several sauces" were not labeled, officials said.

"The facility does not have a verifiable method of demonstrating that employees have been informed of the employee health policy," the report said.

A message left with the restaurant were not immediately returned Thursday.

A follow-up inspection will be carried out within 10 days of the original evaluation.
