United seeks more space at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson

An Atlanta City Council committee has given the go-ahead to United Air Lines’ request to lease additional space in Concourse T at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Under a resolution recently approved by the Transportation Committee and forwarded to the full Council, United would add about 1,430 square feet on the apron level, below the passenger level, at the northeast end of Concourse T.

The G2 baggage handling operator provides ground-handling services to United. The airline wants to lease the airport’s Ground Service Equipment Repair Shop space, currently vacant, and adjacent office space on G2’s behalf for equipment repairs and to provide oversight, according to a Council staff memo.

The expansion would be an amendment to an existing lease dating to 1986.
