A Clayton County teen was facing charges Sunday after a six-year-old relative left in his care was shot and killed on Saturday.

Channel 2 Action News reported that Anthony Clark died after being shot in the head at a home on Old Rock Cut Road near Forest Park.

"There were a few people possibly in the room, possibly playing with a gun," Clayton police Lt. Tina Daniel said.

Anthony's mother, Tia Hill, told Channel 2 that an 18-year-old uncle was left in charge of the boy while she was at work.

"He always watches him," Hill said. "He does such a good job. I don't know what happened."

On Sunday, the child's uncle, Benny Kimbrough, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless conduct and three counts of cruelty to children (second degree), according to police spokesman Otis Willis.

Willis said that Kimbrough had control of the gun when it went off. The cruelty charges are due to there being other children in the room at the time.

Kimbrough is being held in the Clayton County Jail.
