The survivor of an April crash that killed four University of Georgia students continues to make "gradual progress," her pastor said Tuesday.
Agnes Kim, a senior at UGA and graduate of Gwinnett's Brookwood High School, was behind the wheel during the April 27 crash on Ga. 15 near Athens. According to the Georgia State Patrol, her Toyota Camry crossed the center line and into the path of a Chevrolet Cobalt.
The driver of the Cobalt survived and was able to call 911, but the crash ultimately killed all four passengers in Kim's car: Kayla Leigh Canedo, 19, of Alpharetta; Brittany Katherine Feldman, 20, of Alpharetta; Christina Devon Semeria, 19, of Milton; and Halle Grace Scott, 19, of Dunwoody.
Kim, 21, was in critical condition following the crash and did not emerge from her coma for five weeks. She was moved from Athens Regional Medical Center to Atlanta's Shepherd Center on May 12 and has remained there since.
Lee Mason — the pastor at Athens' Classic City Church, where Kim was an active member — said he visited her at the hospital last week.
"Her eyes are open and she's making gradual progress — very slight and incremental," Mason told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution via email Tuesday. "The doctors are very encouraged though."
A YouCaring page that schoolmates set up to help with Kim's medical expenses also provides occasional updates on her condition. The last post was on July 1.
