Police in Tyrone are investigating a robbery that occurred around 8 a.m. on Dec. 18 at the O’Reilly Auto Parts store. A tall, slender black male wearing a mask, black pants and gray sweatshirt entered the store through an unlocked rear door, and while leaving was surprised by an employee reporting for work.

The suspect fired a shot at both the employee and at a witness outside in an SUV who tried to block the suspect’s escape by ramming his silver Hyundai Sonata; the shot “narrowly missed a young child in the back seat” of the SUV. The same man is a suspect in other O’Reilly robberies in the region. Police are warning witnesses not to intervene at crime scenes but to call 911 instead.
