A shooting near a southwest Atlanta park had bystanders grabbing children and scrambling for safety.
Channel 2 Action News reported that the gunman fired nine shots during a cookout near Ira and Crumley streets in the Mechanicsville neighborhood Sunday evening. Two men, one 33 and the other 42, were shot but are expected to survive, the station reported.
No children were hurt, despite a nearby softball game and children playing in the Rosa Burney Park playground.
"First and foremost, everybody went to grabbing kids," witness Percy Freeman told Channel 2. "Two in this arm, two in that arm, just to get down. And once the shooting stopped, we went across the field and you got two people out there shot."
Police have made no arrests in the shooting.
