Two people are in jail charged with the shooting death of a DeKalb County Police officer’s fiancee.

Luis Alberto Porras, 24, and 25-year-old Amanda Dove are each charged with one count of murder, police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said. The two were expected to make their first court appearance Saturday evening.

Jameelah Qureshi, 40, was found shot Aug. 15 outside her home in the 700 block of Kilkenny Circle in Lithonia.

Detectives said Qureshi, a mother of four, was on her way home from work and had just pulled into the driveway when gunfire erupted. Several family members were inside the home, but were not injured, police said.

DeKalb police formed a special task force to hunt for the shooters. Police immediately ruled out Qureshi’s fiancee, a police officer, as a suspect. The Roswell Police Department assisted with the suspects’ arrest, Parish said.

No motive has been disclosed.

Qureshi’s funeral was held Saturday at Mount Patmos Baptist Church. She was buried in Resthaven Cemetery.

A trust fund has been set up for the four children. Donations can be left at any Wachovia Bank under the Latrice Evans fund.
