Three teens in Fayette County have been suspended from school and face battery charges after they allegedly held down a 13-year-old girl and tried to pierce her belly button, Channel 2 Action News reports.

The incident happened Aug. 26 during lunch period in the courtyard of Fayette County High School.

Authorities said the 13-year-old had agreed to let her fellow students pierce her navel but had second thoughts when she saw the size of the needle to be used. The others allegedly went ahead with the procedure.

“Initially they were holding her hand. When she didn’t want to do it any more, it was more of a restraint than it was of comfort,” Fayetteville police Detective Mike Whitlow told Channel 2. “You’ve also got … a 2-inch-long needle that’s being inserted into someone’s skin, which is a danger.”

Other students saw what has happening and alerted an assistant principal.

“The needle was still in the girl’s stomach when the administrator came around,” Whitlow said.

An emergency medical technician checked out the 13-year-old, and she was fine.

A 17-year-old, Christian Tucker, was arrested and charged as an adult with battery, disruption of a public school and piercing the body of a person under the age of 18, authorities said.

The two other students, both juveniles, also were charged with battery, and they and the victim were charged with disrupting school.
