A road through an area where Fulton and Cherokee counties and Roswell and Milton abut is scooting over to make way for a bridge replacement project.
The Georgia Department of Transportation announced that the eastbound and westbound lanes of Hickory Flat Highway (Ga. 140) will be shifted about six to eight feet to the south between the Little River Bridge and Old Arnold Mill Road. The shift will allow GDOT contractors to construct an approach to the newly built bridge.
Motorists should expect delays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., GDOT said. The completed bridge will have two, 12-foot lanes and a 10-foot-wide shoulder. The estimated completion date is Nov. 30, weather permitting.
Hickory Flat is the boundary, generally, between Roswell and Milton, while Little River at this location is the dividing line between Cherokee and Fulton counties.
