The Atlanta Department of Watershed Management will host events for the third annual “Imagine a Day Without Water” campaign next week.

The nationwide initiative, led by Value of Water Campaign, highlights the need for investment in infrastructure to ensure safe and reliable access to water.

Losing water for one day would cost the Atlanta economy $100 million, DMW Commissioner Kishia L. Powell said in a news release.

Events include an open house at the Hemphill Water Treatment Plant on Wednesday. Guests can tour the facility to get a behind-the-scenes look at the city's water treatment process, operations and procedures.
Tours are available from 10 a.m. to noon and are free and open to the public.

Additionally, City Hall and partners ,such as the Center for Civil and Human Rights, Fernbank Museum and Georgia State University, will commemorate the campaign by turning off “aesthetic water features” from Wednesday at 6 a.m. to Thursday at 6 p.m.
