Tossed Out Treasures, a bargain-hunters’ shopping event, returns to Sandy Springs in March with gently-used clothing, jewelry and home goods.

The event, presented by the Sandy Springs Society philanthropic organization, is one of two annual fundraisers by the women’s group to benefit nonprofits in Sandy Springs. They also host Elegant Elf Marketplace in December.

Tossed out Treasures takes place March 13-15 at the space formerly occupied  by The Chastain School, located at 4967 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs. Admission is free.  A preview dinner and shopping spree will be held 6 p.m. March 12 at a cost of $35.

“One hundred percent of funds raised go back to the community," said Elizabeth Kelly, Tossed Out Treasures co-chair.

The event raises about $75,000 annually. Sandy Springs Society also reports that a total of $231,750 in grants was awarded to 26 nonprofit organizations in 2019. Nearly $4 million has been donated since the Society was founded in 1988. Outside sponsors such as Northside Hospital and Gas South, as well as family donations have contributed to that amount.

The Community Assistance Center, Horizons Atlanta, Cancer Support Community and Mr. Tom’s Heart are some of the nonprofits that have received funds.
