Third Morehouse carjacking suspect arrested in court
Atlanta police have arrested a third suspect in the late April carjacking of four college students near the Morehouse College campus.
Darius Hill, 19, was arrested Tuesday morning by Fulton County Sheriff’s deputies as he appeared in court on an unrelated charge. The Atlanta police fugitive squad had issued an outstanding warrant for Hill, who's charged with four counts each of armed robbery and kidnapping along with one count of carjacking and one for possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Hill, immediately transported to the Fulton County jail, and two other suspects allegedly carjacked the four students -- three of whom attend Morehouse -- on April 25 in the "Collegetown" complex a block west of campus. Two of the students were forced into the trunk of their Buick LaCrosse while the other two victims were held at gunpoint in the back seat of the vehicle.
While in the trunk one of the students used his cell phone to dial 911 but the connection was lost. He then called the Morehouse College police, who tracked the call to the Wachovia Bank in West End. Police found the victims unharmed and arrested two of the suspects as they tried to withdraw money using the stolen ATM cards. Hill escaped and had been on the run ever since.
His alleged accomplices, a juvenile and 17-year-old Jevontay Fleetwood, have already been charged in the carjacking.
