Canton police issued warrants for a fifth suspect in a murder investigation, officials said Tuesday.
Akilee Zakee Wilson is currently on the run from police, Canton police spokesman Pacer Cordry said.
The 17-year-old faces two counts of murder and aggravated assault charges, Cordry said, in connection with a fatal shooting June 25 near Crisler Street in Canton.
Police found one person dead in an area near Crisler Street and another person at a house off Jefferson Circle with injuries that were not life-threatening. The third victim was found in a vehicle near the area and died en route to a local hospital, Cordry said.
Police still aren’t sure if the incident was related to gangs or drugs, Cordry said. More than 70 gunshots were fired.
“We know this was not a random shooting because the individuals involved knew each other,” police said.
Brody Austin Samples, 23, of Ball Ground, and Temarlos Marquarous Turner, 22, of Canton, were arrested July 13 and charged with two counts of felony murder and two counts of aggravated assault, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.
Police previously charged Jeremy Ulysses Zellous, 29, of Marietta, with felony murder, aggravated assault, making false statements and tampering with evidence in the incident.
On July 11, police arrested Byron Elrod, Darron Brown and Brian Miller, all of whom are felons, who were found in possession of a stolen handgun and arrested during a traffic stop near Bells Ferry and Sixes roads, Cordry said.
Police believe that shooting may be connected to the June 25 fatal triple shooting.
Anyone with information about Wilson is asked to call 911 or call the Canton police main number at 770-720-4883.
