An Atlanta teen who shot and killed a 16-year-old after the two exchanged cross words was sentenced to life in prison Friday, the Fulton County District Attorney's Office said.

Ricci Mobley had just turned 17 when the shooting occurred in July 2009. Bryan Tinch and his brother, whose father is a local pastor, were walking in the 6000 block of Connell Road in unincorporated Fulton County when Mobley shouted something at them. The victim responded. Mobley, who was with a group of friends, then walked toward the brothers, drew his gun and began firing, prosecutors said.

Tinch was pronounced dead soon after at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Witnesses positively identified Mobley, who was arrested the day after the shooting, according to the district attorney. He was found guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Co-defendant Chaze Scott, now 18, was convicted of weapons charges and sentenced to one year in prison, the district attorney's office said.
