A teenage boy remained in serious condition Wednesday after being hit by a car as he tried to cross the street Tuesday evening, Gwinnett County police said.
The boy, whose name was not released, was attempting to walk across Five Forks Trickum Road near Sugarloaf Parkway just before 7 p.m. when he was struck, Cpl. Edwin Ritter told the AJC.
The boy was transported to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite in serious condition, Ritter said.
Cole Steele told Channel 2 Action News a group of teens made it across Five Forks Trickum, but the last teen did not. He was struck by a car heading southbound on Five Forks.
“Four or five of the kids actually paused for a half a second in the middle before taking off, then the victim just didn't stop and followed his friends," Steele said.
The driver of the car that struck the teen is not expected to face charges, Ritter said Wednesday.
