Teen dies in wreck near Monroe

A 14-year-old boy died when the SUV he was riding in wrecked near Monroe on Monday evening.

Georgia State Patrol said a Mercury Mountaineer that was driven by Kimberly Johnson crashed on Center Hill Church Road.

Johnson, 47, her husband Samuel Johnson, 52, and their son Zackery Johnson, 14, survived the crash that happened when the SUV left the road while negotiating a curve and overturned several times.

Zachary Paul Littlefield, 14, a friend of the Johnson boy, died in the crash, according to a Georgia State Patrol officer. All four passengers were wearing seat belts, authorities said. The accident is under investigation and charges may be filed, according to the state patrol.
