The 17-year-old accused of fatally shooting a veteran Clayton County deputy was charged late Thursday with two counts of murder, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced.

Jonathan Bun faces malice murder and felony murder charges, along with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

The Riverdale teen is scheduled to appear before a Clayton magistrate Friday on separate charges that allegedly precipitated Wednesday's shooting of  55-year-old Rick Daly.

Deputies from the sheriff's fugitive squad were looking to serve an arrest warrant on Bun for armed robbery and aggravated assault when they spotted him getting into a car near his home on Church Street, Clayton Sheriff Kem Kimbrough said.

Following protocol, they called on a patrol car to pull Bun over near  the intersection of East Fayetteville and Walker roads. Daly was one of the deputies in the car.

As Daly approached, Bun allegedly stepped out of the passenger's side of his car and began firing his weapon, Kimbrough said.

One of the bullets pierced his abdomen just below his body armor, severing his aorta. It was a fatal blow, authorities said.

Bun is being held in Henry County jail.

The robbery and assault charges stem from a Jan. 27 incident at Los Amigos Gifts & Things on Old Dixie Road in Forest Park. According to Clayton police, Bun followed an employee into the store's office and produced a handgun, demanding money from the register. He escaped with $200.
