The 2021 state budget approved within the past month includes $6.7 million for the development of a new facility at Southern Crescent Technical College.

The site of a long-abandoned strip mall at Lakemont Drive and Hwy. 81 will be repurposed for the school’s Center for Education and Entrepreneurship, according to a July 8 statement released by state Sen. Brian Strickland. The new state budget was signed June 30 by Gov. Brian Kemp. Of the several centers operated by Southern Crescent Technical College, the enrollment of the Henry County location in McDonough is exceeded only by the school’s main campus in Griffin.
