Taxpayers group wants Reed for ally on pension reform

The Fulton County Taxpayers Foundation fears Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed is listening to the wrong lawyers.

The group contends Reed's proposals to "sweep aside existing pension laws"  to reform the pension system are based on a outside legal opinion at odds with the city law department.

Foundation lawyers also contend Reed's proposal wouldn't survive a legal challenge. Instead, foundation head John Sherman suggests the city stop opposing a foundation lawsuit challenging  the pension law because if it is successful Reed's proposals could be enacted.
