New item-Atlanta

Katherine Daniels wants something done about a storm drain.

“The storm drain at Alston Drive and Spence Avenue in East Lake has been stopped for 15 years or so, and we have tried to get it working. We have contacted the city many times and they send someone to look at it but nothing is ever done,” she wrote.

Daniels said the adjacent property has now been sold and has four houses under construction and the run off is incredible.

“We have tried to dig it out, but is impossible without tearing up the sidewalk and probably after all these years will need heavy equipment. This flow of water continues down to the park and everyone along Alston is effected and at times the water gets so high at the park, cars are unable to cross over the lowest point at the lake of Zaban Park,” she said.

She added the city was last contacted a month or so ago, but nothing has materialized. We sent the item to the city and will keep you updated.

New item-DeKalb County

Samar Mitra is concerned over a crumbling sidewalk.

“We live on 1366 Emory Road in Atlanta in DeKalb County. A long stretch of the sidewalk on our side of the road is in a state of serious disrepair. Months ago, the county marked those sections, but we are still waiting for them to come and do what needs to be done,” Mitra wrote.

We sent the item to the county and will let you know when it’s fixed.

Update-Atlanta

In June we told you about Donald Block’s issue with a sinkhole.

“On January 28, I called and reported a small sinkhole in front of 2801 Ramsgate, N.W. in Atlanta. I was told that it would be repaired in 10 to 45 days. After 45 days, I called and was told there was a work order for April 12,” he wrote.

He said he called after April 12 and was told it was not a priority and no new date was done.

We heard back from city officials who said the work should start, weather permitting this week. The official added that

work on large diameter pipes such as this one requires 2-3 days of dry weather in order to avoid flooding issues.
