"Swoosh" cannot stand alone in Johns Creek
Johns Creek officials say the blue "swoosh" that graces its city logo should not stand alone on street signs.
Among other topics discussed at a work session held this week, the city council directed the public works department to include the entire logo -- complete with the name of the city -- on street signs. The department had planned to use only the swoosh off to the left of the street name on the sign.
"It doesn't say ‘City of Johns Creek on it," said Councilman Dan McCabe. "It's just a swoosh."
McCabe wasn't crazy about putting anything on the signs.
"Street signs are street signs. You don't decorate them," he said.
But the rest of the council thought it was a good way to market the city.
"It is our logo," said Councilwoman Bev Miller. "It is what it is, whether you like it or not."
