Following a third and final public hearing, the Suwanee City Council voted Aug. 27 to maintain a millage rate of 4.93 mills, the same proposed rate used in the proposed FY2020 budget and the same rate used by the city over the past seven years.

The approved millage rate of 4.93 is higher than the calculated rollback rate of 4.709 mills and is anticipated to generate a 4.69 percent increase in property tax revenues due to growth from property value reassessments.

The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $320,000 is approximately $28.29 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $590,000 is approximately $52.16.
