An SUV struck the rear of a Douglas County school bus Friday morning, but no serious injuries were reported, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Five of the 21 high school-aged children on the bus were taken to a hospital to be checked for possible minor injuries, the GSP said. The passenger of the Ford Expedition was taken to a hospital with non-fatal injuries.

The incident occurred on northbound Ga. 92 near Sunset Drive, the GSP said.

The bus stopped to allow a special-needs student to get on, the GSP said. Traffic began slowing behind the bus.

The SUV swerved from the left lane into the right lane to avoid rear-ending another vehicle, according to the GSP. The SUV then struck the rear of the bus with its front bumper.
