A "suspicious" package found near the Georgia Aquarium Saturday afternoon drew police officers who cordoned off the streets but did not evacuate any buildings.
The incident was reported just before 5 p.m. Two hours later, police announced that the package was not dangerous.
It turned out to be materials for a prom accidentally left outside a building, said Officer Kim Maggart of the Atlanta Police Department. "Nothing to it."
The box contained glow sticks, according to Channel 2 Action News.
The box was found on Baker Street near Centennial Olympic Park. That is a block from the aquarium, outside the Legal Sea Food restaurant.
Michele Magnifico, an assistant manager at the restaurant, said police cleared the area outside. The din of apparently unconcerned diners could be heard in the background when she came to the phone.
"The streets are clear," Magnifico said around 5 p.m., "and there are cops all over the place."
