A suspected car thief led Atlanta police and state troopers on a short chase Thursday that ended in a parking lot of the federal prison on Boulevard.

Georgia State Patrol Lt. Paul Cosper said no one was injured, though some of the chase cars were damaged by debris from the crashed 2006 Mercedes Benz. The car had been reported stolen from an area near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, but police spotted it on Freedom Parkway, which is where the chase started.

Cosper said Robert Grimes, 37, of Atlanta, drove into the driveway of the prison and was arrested just a few yards from the entrance.
