The man accused of killing a teenager outside a Gwinnett County McDonald's last month has been arrested.

Online records show Deveric Trevez Hardy was booked into the Gwinnett County jail Friday morning on charges of murder, aggravated assault and purchase of marijuana. He was being held without bond.

Police named Hardy as a suspect in the Nov. 28 death of Kyree Shakur Smith — who was shot in a car outside the McDonald's on Hamilton Mill Road — about two weeks ago. At the time, authorities described Hardy as a Tennessee resident and said his whereabouts were unknown.

It was not immediately clear Friday how he was located and arrested.

Police have released little about the case, but said previously that they were “looking into the possibility” that the shooting was drug related.

Witnesses at the restaurant near Dacula told police they heard gunfire before seeing Smith’s car roll onto an embankment as a Nissan Sentra fled.

A McDonald’s manager and a police officer attempted to resuscitate Smith at the scene but the 19-year-old was pronounced dead at Gwinnett Medical Center.

Another teenager was with Smith during the shooting but was uninjured.
