Sunday’s a great day to get out of the house with Pops as temperatures approach 90 degrees in metro Atlanta.

“The heat continues to build, and as we close out the weekend it’s going to be hot,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said, “a fantastic day for you and Dad.”

Right now it is 88 degrees and sunny in Atlanta.

The moisture could increase the chances of an isolated shower Sunday afternoon, but Deon is calling for just a 20% chance of rain in the northwest corner of the state.
Those chances increase through the first half of the work week, with a 60% chance of showers on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“We’re going to be shifting to a wetter weather pattern as we head into the next few days, but this weekend we are quiet and dry,” Deon said.

As for traffic, several road closures planned will continue through the weekend, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

In Fulton County, expect delays as GDOT continues work on the Transform 285/400 project. A detour is planned at the southbound entrance ramp to I-285 from Ga. 400.

Closures are also planned between Midtown and Sandy Springs.
