A peaceful protest march and a discussion forum on race will be held in Buckhead, Sunday, by separate organizations. Both events are dedicated to race relations in Atlanta schools.

Lovett School students and alumni will discuss the presence of race in the school community from 2-2:45 p.m. An event announcement said that organizers want to provide an open conversation in order to grow as a school community.

The event will take place outside the school’s back gate in Chattahoochee Park. The school is located at 4075 Paces Ferry Road N.W., Atlanta.

All attendees are advised to wear masks and people who are ill should not attend, the announcement said.

In May, several students from Lovett's 2020 graduating class tested positive for COVID-19 after the school held a drive-in graduation celebration.

Buckhead4Blacklives will hold a peaceful protest march at 3 p.m. from the West Paces Ferry shopping center to the Governor’s Mansion.

The protest honors George Floyd and other men and women who died in police custody, an Instagram post said. Floyd died in police custody on Memorial Day in Minnesota.

Three minutes of silence will take place at the Governor’s Mansion, the post said.
