Atlanta police released the name of the hairstylist being sought for allegedly shooting a gun into the floor of a Buckhead salon last Wednesday in a dispute over a client's hair.
The suspect, Corwin C. Pledger, 24, faces aggravated assault and terroristic threat charges, according to police.
Pledger allegedly got angry when the client, Neffe Pugh, sister of Atlanta singer Keisha Cole, went to Derek J.'s salon, the J Spot Salon on Pharr Road, to have her hair redone after being unhappy with Pledger's work, according to Channel 2 Action News.
"The suspect pointed a loaded handgun at several customers and discharged his weapon while inside the business on Pharr Road," Atlanta police said in a statement issued Tuesday.
Derek J., who has made regular appearances on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" and appeared in the Chris Rock movie "Good Hair," told Channel 2 he was not happy about the shot fired at his salon.
"I'm upset because my floor is messed up now," said Derek J., whose last name is Johnson. He said Pugh stopped at the salon to get her hair re-done.
"Her [hair was] messed up to the point we didn't know what to do," he said. "So I was just like, reach out to the stylist and say, ‘Hey, what did you use, what did you do?' and it turned from a professional conversation to more of an argument, but we thought it was done," Derrick J. told Channel 2.
"A few hours later, a gentleman shows up, the other stylist, wanting to talk and started an argument. I asked him to leave," Lisa McCall, a salon owner, told Channel 2.
Workers at the salon said the other stylist waved his gun around the shop.
"Before turning away, he waved the gun in my face and said, ‘You don't think I will?' And I backed up," McCall said.
Then he shot the gun off, Derek J. told Channel 2.
Police ask anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477). They can remain anonymous and may receive a reward up to $2,000, according to authorities.
