Following a job classification and pay study conducted by Evergreen Solutions, the city of Fayetteville has revised its staff compensation levels and will give raises to 114 employees.

The City Council voted 4-0-1 (with Scott Stacy absent) on Oct. 18 to accept the recommendations from the study, which indicated that “the City’s current pay structure is below our peers.” The employees (primarily in the public safety sector) found to be compensated below market levels will receive a total of $245,000 in additional salaries, with an average adjustment of 5.1 percent. The total cost of implementing the revised pay and benefits plan will be about $320,000, which has already been included in the FY2019 budget.

Staffing levels in the finance and public works departments were also adjusted based on the study.
