Student makes graduation ceremony days after being hit by car
Michael Taylor likely will have fond memories of his graduation from Jonesboro High School on Thursday.
But he has no memory of being hit by a car Monday, an incident that put him in a hospital and almost kept him out of the ceremony, Channel 2 Action News reported.
As he walked across Ga. 138 at Jonesboro Road, a driver hit him. Taylor doesn’t remember the incident, but police filled him in.
“I was in the air for a minute,” he said. “And then I landed onto the guy’s windshield.”
He was taken to a hospital and treated for a concussion, bruises to his face and back, as well as other injuries.
He was hit by a car and left with a concussion Monday. Now today, this 18 year old high school student is well enough to walk across the stage and accept his hard earned diploma. I’ll have his story at 4:44. @wsbtv pic.twitter.com/FDQcioZDNq

Neither he nor his family has any hard feelings toward the driver.
“We're praying for him, too,” said his mother, Leslie Taylor, “because he stopped to make sure that Mikey was all right.”
Police are still investigating the incident.
It’s another tough blow for Taylor’s family, which is homeless after his father had a couple of strokes recently, Channel 2 reported.
But their attitude is still positive.
“I gotta keep moving,” he said. “I can't focus on those bad things unless I need to.”
