Some south Fulton residents may see discolored water

Jan 26, 2010

Some south Fulton County residents may notice some strange colors in their water when they flush their toilets over the next month or so.

Don't fret, Atlanta officials say.

City crews are flushing fire hydrants in the area, which may cause the discoloration. The work is part of an effort to make sure the hydrants are working properly and to locate all of the city's water valves.

The work is being done south of Cedar Grove Road between Cochran Mill Road and Roosevelt Highway between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. It began Tuesday and will continue for the next month or two, city officials said.

City officials said tap and toilet water is safe.
