The most anticipated two minutes of the year is now just days away. On Monday, a once-in-a-lifetime total solar eclipse will have millions donning special glasses and peering at the sun.

And although views should be better in north Georgia than in Atlanta, the chance for rain has dropped to 20 percent, Channel 2 Action News Meteorologist Brad Nitz said Friday.

“We’ll have a partly cloudy sky,” Nitz said. “So it’s looking better than it looked a week ago.”

A weather front with drier air should move in Friday night, bringing down the chances for rain and cloud cover over the weekend and Monday, Nitz said. Even if more clouds roll in Monday, the view won’t be entirely blocked, he said.

“If you’re in and around metro Atlanta, you will definitely be able to see at least some of the partial eclipse,” Nitz said.
