Police arrested a man Friday shortly after he allegedly robbed a Regions Bank on Scenic Highway in Snellville.

Charles Tolbert, 46, of Snellville, was charged with armed robbery after he allegedly went up to the counter in the bank at about 1:20 p.m. and wrote out a note demanding money on a deposit slip. He claimed he was armed, police said.

The teller gave Tolbert an unidentified amount of money and he left the bank and ran into the woods near LA Fitness, located just behind the bank, police said.

Police arrived less than a minute after receiving a description of the man, police said.  A few minutes later,  an officer detained Tolbert near the intersection of Pinehurst and North Road, police said.  The teller identified Tolbert as the robber, police said.  All the money taken in the robbery has been recovered, police said.

Officers also discovered that Tolbert was wanted for a probation violation.
