A Snellville police officer was recently caught red-handed -- while handing out stuff animals to a group of local kids.

One of the kids' moms sang Sgt. Scott Smith's praises on the police department's Facebook page, calling him "the nicest police officer ever." Smith "took time out of his day to hand out stuff animals to all the kids and did the sirens and lights and everything for them," Kristina Renee Hooper wrote.

The department reposted Hooper's note with some praise of its own.

A good beginning of the week, indeed.
