Smyrna officials will hold three public hearings on proposed property tax increases.

The proposed annual tax increase on a house with a fair market value of $225,000 (the Smyrna average) is $47.52, Interim City Administrator and Finance Director Toni Jo Howard said.

The proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $350,000 is $83.16, she added.

Hearings will be 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. July 20 at Smyrna City Hall, Council Chambers, 2800 King St.

The tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 8.99 mills, an increase of 0.594 mills which is a 7.07 percent increase over the rollback millage rate of 8.396 mills.
