The Smyrna City Council voted 7-0 Tuesday to lower the liquor package license fee from $5,000 to $2,000.

However, there still is an increase of $530 since the previous license fee had been $1,470.

City officials were attempting to charge the same as Cobb County for alcohol beverage fees, including Cobb’s $5,000 fee for package liquor licenses.

Smyrna’s $530 increase will affect eight establishments.
