A heavily traveled Smyrna road reopened Friday morning after a truck struck the roof of the historic Concord covered bridge.

The bridge over Nickajack Creek was damaged overnight by a U-Haul truck that was taller than the span's 7-foot clearance.

WSB-TV reported that three people in the rental truck were injured in the wreck.

The stretch of Concord Road that crosses the 137-year-old bridge reopened about 7 a.m.
