The size of lettering on storefronts in the new Overlook shopping center could affect other retail areas along Ga. Hwy. 54 West in Peachtree City.

The city council debated amending existing sign rules at its Oct. 15 meeting, voting 4-0 to postpone a final decision. A proposal to allow several anchor stores to have signs with letters up to five feet tall was rejected by the Planning Commission but is preferred by the developer because the Overlook center will be 600 feet from the road. Commissioner Eric Imker asked city staff to clarify which other stores along that corridor could ask for larger signs if the change is made.
