The sister of a 23-year-old Georgia Tech student remembers her as free-spirited and incredibly loving.

Ruth Bakatukanda died of injuries sustained Saturday in a hit-and-run crash on I-85 in south Fulton County, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The driver who took off after the crash is still on the run, police said.

Christelle Bakatukanda told the news station her sister brought out something in her that no one else could.

When she recalled the last thing her sister said to her, Christelle broke down crying.

“She said from now on you’re going to share your location with me indefinitely,” Christelle told Channel 2.

Ruth was a former Savannah State University cheerleader who transferred to Georgia Tech as a junior, Channel 2 reported.

Friends and family held Ruth’s hand in the hospital while she was in critical condition.

“We’re all in it together,” Christelle said. “We’re all hurting.”

Though Ruth fought for her life, she "joined the Lord and is looking down upon all of us from Heaven," a GoFundMe page raising money for funeral expenses states.

The family plans to hold a vigil in Ruth’s honor Saturday.

“Celebrate her life because only God knows why this happened to her," Christelle told Channel 2.
