Representatives from the Shriners of North Georgia recently met with East Point leaders to discuss the possibility of building a regional outpatient center there.
The Board for the Shriners Hospitals for Children is looking at locations throughout the state for an outpatient center with easy access for families seeking care for their children.
Officials expect to meet in the coming months, in the hopes of bringing the facility to East Point. It would be the first of its kind in Georgia.
The group has 22 hospitals across the country that provides free care in areas such as burn treatment and spinal cord injuries.
