Republican Keith Shewbert, a Norcross business owner and former Norcross City Councilman, has announced he will run for the District 2 Gwinnett County Commission seat being vacated by Bert Nasuti.

Shewbert, founding board member of the Gwinnett Village CID and current chairman of the Gwinnett Village Community Alliance, becomes the fourth person to either file for or announce for the position. Last week, Lynette M. Howard, also a Norcross Republican, filed with the county elections office. Howard serves as vice chair of the county planning commission.

Late last year, Republican Jose Perez and Democrat Robert Lee Byars, both of Norcross, announced their candidacies for the post.

Shewbert left the city council in 2008 in an unsuccessful bid for the state representative seat held by Pedro Marin. He is the owner of the 45 South Café and coffeehouse in Historic Norcross.
