Sharmen Gowens has been named interim CEO of the YWCA of Greater Atlanta.

The move becomes effective August 23.

Gowens, currently chairwoman of the organization's board, replaces former Justine Boyd, who is joining another Atlanta nonprofit. Jackie Parker, president of the Newell Rubbermaid Foundation and vice chairwoman of the board of the YWCA of Greater Atlanta, will serve as chairwoman of the board.

An executive search committee will lead the search for the new CEO.
