Peachtree City homeowners who qualify for the senior homestead property tax exemption can now file their annual paperwork with City Hall.

Residents must have been age 65 or older as of Jan. 1 with an annual household income of $30,000 or less, and have already applied for the standard homestead exemption through the Fayette County tax commissioner’s office. The exemption is $5,000 per home, which amounts to a $34 savings in city property taxes based on the current millage rate. Qualifying seniors must bring proof of age and income (a copy of their 2018 tax return) to City Hall, 151 Willowbend Road, by 5 p.m. on Feb. 28.

The income/tax return portion can also be filed up until April 12. Questions can be directed to 770-487-7657 or info@peachtree-city.org.
