The long wait for two of President Barack Obama's nominees to fill vacancies on the U.S. District Court bench in Atlanta appears to be almost over.

Atlanta lawyer Amy Totenberg and Superior Court Judge Steve Jones of Athens were initially nominated by Obama last year. Both nominees have twice been approved -- once last year and again this year -- by the Senate Judiciary Committee. In an agreement reached Thursday, members of the Senate scheduled debate and a final vote on the two nominees for February 28. If confirmed, Totenberg and Jones would fill two of four vacancies on the busy federal court bench in Atlanta.
