A Georgia school official has been ordered by a judge to stay away from his estranged wife after a series of incidents involving her, authorities said.

Polk County Superintendent Darrell Wetherington was suspended with pay by the school board this month after an unannounced visit to his estranged wife’s classroom, northwestgeorgianews.com reported.

Before that incident, he allegedly showed up at their home about 12:30 a.m. Feb. 17 and woke Jennifer Wetherington up by banging on the garage door, the news website reported.

In a court filing, she said her husband “grilled” her for about two hours about what she “was turning into the Board of Education hearing.” The filing also said Darrell Wetherington threatened to “take care of” his estranged wife’s family if she tried to call for help.

Jennifer Wetherington filed for divorce Feb. 6, the website reported.

The Polk County school board will hold a public hearing in March to resolve the superintendent’s employment status.
