Sandy Springs police ask public help in finding girl's attacker

Police appealed Wednesday for the public's help in finding the man who sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl at a Sandy Springs apartment complex.

There have been no new developments in the case, said Lt. Steve Rose, spokesman for Sandy Springs police, and "we would like to hear from anyone who may have information concerning the incident."

Police said  the girl was assaulted Friday morning at The Falls at Sandy Springs Apartments at 5555 Roswell Road. She told police she had returned to the apartment from a school bus stop between 7 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. and found the attacker waiting inside.

"The only suspect information that we have is that the suspect is a male, dressed in black and who wore a black mask," Rose said. "He spoke in either Russian or perhaps Italian."

The child was treated at a local hospital and released.

Anyone with information about the assault is asked to contact Sandy Springs Det. Ryan Finley at 770-551-3310 or the department’s tip line at 770-551-3300. Calls also can be made to Greater Atlanta Crime Stoppers 404-577-TIPS.
